“Life is not a problem to be solved, but a gift to cherish”

THE PURPOSE OF LIFE
Recently, I was visited by some very nice ladies from the local congregation of Mormons from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  While I do not subscribe to any particular religious organization, I always welcome friendly discussions on all things spiritual and enlightening.  I have studied different religions in the east and the west. I am always open to learning new things and receiving insight on topics that had been hidden in different sacred texts.  So, I had no difficulty welcoming the ladies for a brief discourse.
On this particular evening when they dropped by, I was not at home.  So, they left a little card on my door that had on one side a beautiful picture of what appeared to be the Mormon Tabernacle.

On the other side of the card were 4 Questions:What is the purpose of life?
What is the true nature of God?
Can families be together forever?
Where do we go after this life?

These, of course, are all important questions that many people ask. Some ask them publicly and others do so privately, in their heart.  I have publicly asked these same questions and sought answers in the past from teachers, preachers, and many religious organizations.  The answers they all provided were usually ambiguous, sometimes convoluted and other times just nonsensical, or just didn’t feel ‘right’ to me.  So, I decided to go within for the answers, for I discovered that Infinite Intelligence resides within each of us.  So, why not tap into that!  We may not be aware that we possess this Intelligence because we have forgotten who we really are.

I texted the ladies to inform them that I would answer these questions and would post my reply on my website for all to see.  They responded with much enthusiasm about looking forward to hearing the answers. To provide adequate attention to each question, I will answer each individually, in separate posts. Here is the answer to the first question.  Stay tuned! Subsequent replies follow.

What is the purpose of life?

Another way of asking this question is: Why am I here on planet Earth? Why was I born?  Am I just a by-product of two people’s sexual union?  No matter the question, the answer is the same.  You came here for 3 reasons.  I call them the “Three L’s”.  We came to Live, to Love and to Leave a Legacy!

We each came to Live life joyfully and fully.  To paraphrase a biblical verse found in John 10:10 in the KJV of the Bible: “I came that they might have life more abundantly.”  The person of Jesus came to be an example of living life fully and passionately.  The biblical story of his entire life mirrors his devotion and passion for righteous causes that align with the highest goodness and divinity that exists within everyone. There are other renowned teachers who did the same and are found in the life and personage of individuals such as Siddhartha (the Buddha), Mother Theresa, Gandhi, and The Dali Lama.

We came to Love freely and unconditionally, without judgment, or conditions.  The key to loving others without conditions is to first love ourselves, with appreciation and gratitude.  You must first learn to appreciate yourself just as you are and do no harm to yourself. Then you can do the same to others (Matt 22:39, KJV).  Remember! Unconditional love never ever hurts!  Love heals, soothes and enriches the human psyche and spirit and raises humanity to a higher state of being.

Finally, we each came to leave a Legacy, to leave the planet in a better condition than the way we found it. To do this, we must expand our conscious awareness so that we grow in spiritual awareness, awareness of the True Self, which is not your EGO-self.  Your True Self is the source and link to Infinite Intelligence, or that which the people call God, Buddha, Ganesh, Allah, Elaha, Jehovah, Source, All That Is, etc.  It matters not what one chooses to call this Consciousness, this Great I AM.  We are so much more than our physical selves. We must expand our consciousness so that we can add to the expansion of All That Is!  By doing so, we add to and leave the planet and others in a better place than before we came.

So, there you have it!  Do give this reply some thought.  I welcome your comments on this post.  Just email me at: vivian@vivianhardison.com.  You can also reply on my Face Book page.  I’d love to hear from all of you! Feel free to speak your heart.  Your response will tell me and the world where you are in your journey for answers.  Remember!  We are all in this together!  Stay tuned for answers to the rest of the questions!

Abundantly yours,
Coach Vivian
